State Department Store (Peace Avenue 44, Ulan Bator) – launched in 1921, the State Department Store, a.k.a. ikh delguur (big shop) is a well -known retailer in the capital (similar to GUM department store in Moscow) – making this a holdover from the country’s Communist era. All types of goods can be found here – from luxury items to local carpets, souvenirs, books, etc. There’s also a supermarket, a tourism information office, foreign exchange desk, electronics, and a restaurant at the store’s rooftop.
